RESIDENTS in Whitefield, Nelson, can learn about town design in order for them to have a better say on plans to transform their neighbourhood.

Architects from Civic will be on hand at Nelson Town Hall to give people information about town planning as part of the drive to breathe new life in to the area.

The event, organised by Pendle Council this Thursday, will also feature a walk around the area looking at its architectural history.

Six companies are vying to transform the area and their designs will be unveiled at a public consultation next week.

Coun Tony Greaves, Pendle Council's representative for housing market renewal, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about design and will help local people play a more active role in the heritage led regeneration of Whitefield from an informed perspective.

"We have chosen Civic for this event because they are a team of architects who specialise in community-led design projects. This is exactly what we want for Whitefield."

The event runs between 3.30pm and 9pm. To book a place contact Paul Crowther on 01282 661363 or call in to 42 Albert Street.
