A bride-to-be will give people across the country food for thought when she appears on a popular dieting television programme.

Lisa Aspden, 29, of Shalgrove Field, braved eight weeks under the watchful eye of tough-talking celebrity nutritionist, Gillian McKeith.

And the mother-of-one will give people across the country something to chew on when her story is shown on Channel 4's, You Are What You Eat, to be aired in the spring.

Paninis, gut-busting sandwiches and lunch with the girls were out on the strict McKeith diet and in came the fruit salad, sweet potato shepherd's pie and trips to the gym.

But the effort was worth it after Lisa shed the pounds and dropped from a dress size 24-18.

Viewers will see Lisa trying on wedding dresses at Preston's Bridal Bow, Glovers Court, for her wedding in September to fiancee, Paul Fisher.

But Lisa, who has a two-year-old daughter, Maisie, got more than she bargained for from Gillian who, she claims, was determined to get to the bottom of her eating habits.

"I look after Maisie really well and bringing her up is the only thing I get right," said Lisa, a former pupil at St Cecilia's RC High School, Longridge.

"Gillian tried to show me that, although I feed my daughter really well, she would soon pick up on my bad habits.

"She just kept picking away at me and I ended up in tears. I'm dreading seeing it on telly."

But she said it was all worth it and she has vowed to stick with the healthy eating plan and is hoping to be even slimmer for when she ties the knot with 31-year-old Paul, at St Anthony's Church, Cadley Causeway, Fulwood, on September 16.

Lisa said: "This is my year. I've moved house, lost weight and will get married. It's very exciting."
