A MAN paid £400 for two bottles of lemonade after being tricked into thinking he was buying a computer and a camcorder by a pair of conmen.

Now police are warning others not to fall victim to the street sellers who have been approaching people in Blackburn.

The man was believed to be the second victim of the conmen.

He was approached by two men in a car near the JJB soccerdome off Haslingden Old Road.

They opened a case and showed him a laptop and camcorder and said they were his for £400 cash.

The man went to a cashpoint and returned with the money.

But after the men had gone he opened the case and found that the conmen had switched the electrical goods leaving him with just two bottles of lemonade.

Police said it may be linked to a similar incident in December when a man was approached by two men in Lambeth Street, Audley.

He was also shown the laptop and camcorder and was convinced enough to withdraw £400 from a cash machine.

But when he returned to hand over the money, the two men snatched the cash and drove off, leaving him empty handed.

Sergeant Joe Worden said: "I advise people to be very wary of those offering goods for sale in the street."

In the latest incident the victim said the conmen were white, one in his 30s, with short hair, clean shaven and a big nose, while the other was in his 40s.

The first victim could not provide descriptions, except to say the men were in a red car.
