POLICE have warned youngsters behaving in an anti-social manner they will be dealt with firmly.

The robust message from local bobbies follows reports of yob behaviour from residents in the Bowerham area of Lancaster on Friday evening.

Three youngsters were arrested after a group of about 60 teenagers were the subject of complaints of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Police filmed the youths before dispersing the group - and evidence on the film is now being studied.

Anyone recognised as acting in an anti-social manner will be visited and receive official warnings, say police.

Sgt Martin Pearson, of the neighbourhood policing team at Lancaster, says: "The actions of some youths on Friday evening was unacceptable and we want to warn these people now in the strongest possible way that they will be dealt with proactively.

"On Friday three individuals were arrested and others have been spoken to in front of their parents. We are studying the video evidence we took and there is no doubt that we will be visiting more families in the near future to discuss the behaviour of their children.'' He adds: "We will be targeting the area in the next few weeks and policing it robustly.''
