A RETIRED man from Heysham says he cannot see what all the fuss over the Heysham link road is all about.
George Kenyon, of Ashcroft, believes the answer has been staring people in the face for years.
The retired chip shop and taxi owner believes a bridge over the River Lune at Salt Ayre and a road along the disused railway through to the Marsh estate is the' ideal solution.
"The main thing is that we need a bridge over the Lune, somewhere close to the Asda, and then just use the track which is already there," says Mr Kenyon.
"I have had the idea for sometime now and it seems obvious. It takes the traffic away from the city centre and means people can travel to and from Morecambe more freely.
"I do not think that the northern link will solve the problems, but in any case we need a solution now and not in eight years time.
"By all means still plan to build a link road, but I reckon by the time this road is up and running the authorities will find out that they do not need a bypass at all."
He reckons it would take just a year to build the road but says he would have no idea as to how much it would cost, saying it is just an idea.
Mr Kenyon has not yet put his plans to Lancashire County Council but says he might do in the near future - if the scheme gets the backing of the people of the district.
