A NELSON pub is to open a book of remembrance after a popular local man who died suddenly.

Born and brought up in Germany, Wolfram Bruno Thome, 50, was a well known figure in Nelson and made frequent appearances on television.

Wolfram died suddenly in Killarney, Ireland, on February 3.

The book will be opened at the Bull Hotel tonight and will be sent out to his mother in Germany.

Born on February 12, 1955, in the village of Ringsheim, in the Black Forest, he was diagnosed with a sight problem and was educated in blind schools.

Most people didn't even know he was blind as he refused to use a white stick and even rode bicycles.

He was a talented musician and a drummer in the band The Rattles.

He worked as a sound engineer at various radio stations and had an interest in the local music scene, helping many singers and groups.

Wolf' came to live in England in the 1970s, living in Barrowford with his first wife Janet and son Jamie.

He later met and married Valerie and they made their home together in Regent Street, Nelson.

They starred in many reality TV and documentary shows.

He played his electronic drum kit and guitar and was also a member of the Downhill Dudes, who played at the Irish League Club and Bull Hotel.

He parted from his second wife and moved to Killarney to start a new life last year.
