Two masked raiders armed with a sledgehammer escaped with a substantial amount of cash from Higher Adlington Post Office yesterday.
The men, described as between 5ft 10ins and 6ft, burst into the post office around 10.30am as a delivery driver was delivering cash.
They left in a green Ford Mondeo, which was found on fire a short time later nearby.
It is believed they then escaped in a second car, which police are trying to trace.
