IF you need Burnley's current situation putting into perspective, look at today's Championship table.

There we are in the top half of the table on the same points as Norwich City, one place above them on goal difference. It's all looking so good when you consider the start to the seaosn we had.

And ironically, while I don't think we've got enough to get into the play-offs, Norwich are my tip to push for a top six spot.

I think a club like that can emerge as dark horses because although they're on the same points as us, that's where the similarity ends.

It's no coincidence that they've splashed out £3.5million on Rob Earnshaw and he's already scored three goals, including two last night against Brighton that helped put the Canaries on the same points as the Clarets.

They've sold Dean Ashton and the board have gone, there you go' and given Nigel Worthingotn enough money to buy a player who is one of the best strikers in this division.

The reason we can't stay the pace with Norwich, although we're currently ahead of them, is we haven't been able to spend the money we made in the transfer window.

We sold Ade Akinbiyi but then didn't spend a bean so that tells you where we are compared to Norwich.

In fact, it's a good job we got Michael Ricketts in on loan otherwise we could be even worse off, given that his goal against Plymouth has given us our only win since the players came back from their break abroad.

But given that he's scored twice in three games just shows what business the manager could have done if he did have money to spend.

Although I have to say I'm not sure about Ricketts alongside Gifton Noel-Williams. I know Steve Cotterill has said he hopes he's found the perfect partnership but I didn't see much evidence of that last night.

After everything that happened in January things could have nose-dived badly but for me that doesn't change the fact that it's still frustrating being a Burnley fan when you see the team next to you in the table splashing cash the way Norwich have.
