The Seasiders didn't look like a team capable of getting out of the relegation zone as they went down to a more confident Huddersfield side on Saturday.

Peter Clarke had already prevented what looked like a certain goal with a superb sliding tackle on former Pool target, Chris Brandon, when the home side scored their first on nine minutes.

A far post corner wasn't cut out by the Blackpool back four and teenager, Tom Clarke, flicked a header over Lee Jones at the far post.

From that point on, the visitors played some decent football without ever really looking threatening. Keeper, Paul Rachubka, made a couple of saves from headers by Clarke and John Murphy while Keigan Parker also got in behind the defence late in the first half before turning his shot wide.

The second half saw the introduction of Huddersfield danger man, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, whose strong running gave the Blackpool back four no end of chances.

And Blackpool's chance of getting something from the game evaporated on 72 minutes when Marc Joseph, moved to central defence after Tony Butler went off, brought down John Worthington in the box. Danny Schofield's initial penalty was palmed away by Jones but Schofield followed up quickly to make the points safe.
