A second multi-million pound lottery bid could see Blackpool become the 'people's choice' for a year-round illuminations attraction.
The £50m bid, made to The Big Lottery Fund, aims to bring the resort to the attention of the UK by earning a spot as a finalist in a new BBC show , 'The People's Millions' - due to be aired in July 2007 - where viewers vote for their favourite bid over a series of weeks.
If successful, the town's urban regeneration company - ReBlackpool - and Blackpool Council would be given the 'green light' to expand the much-loved Illuminations away from the promenade and into parks, streets and communities.
