The daughter of Blackpool council education chief Cllr Ivan Taylor has been sentenced to community service for failing to send her child to school.
Single mother, Lisa Taylor, 37, of Gorton Street, Blackpool, was last week sentenced to 80 hours of service in the community after magistrates in the resort convicted her of failing to ensure her 15-year-old daughter regularly attended classes.
According to council education officials the teenager had an average attendance rate of just four per cent.
The court also heard how despite visits by members of the department, the youngster went to school on only four out of a possible 110 occasions between June 6 and September 23 last year.
Defending, Hugh Pond, said Ms Taylor and her parents had admitted that the girl's attendance record was "appalling" despite them trying everything they could to get her to school and added that Ms Taylor was now taking expert advice on how to get her daughter to school.
Both Blackpool Council and Cllr Taylor declined to comment on the hearing.
