It's not that long since the council announced that it may add a ten-pin bowling alley to the adjacent leisure facilities by utilising the former Bentwood factory.
This would have been a popular addition, providing an excellent venue for people of all ages to further enjoy their leisure time. Certainly the younger generation would have thoroughly enjoyed the activity. It could even have included a decent refreshment area and a bar, which is no longer available at the All Seasons leisure centre.
Plans for this, however, were speedily shelved as it was decided that there was insufficient room for the additional parking, which would undoubtedly be required.
Now the council is about to approve the use of the same premises to house a retail development, which will include Curry's and Carpetright stores.
What happened to the problem with parking facilities?
Does our new Chief Executive really know, or care, what a mess this council continues to make of the town's future?
