Detectives are again searching for runaway Fylde schoolgirl, Maxine Bindi, just three months after she sparked a nationwide missing persons hunt.

The 13-year-old has not been seen since vanishing from her family home on Lindel Road, Fleetwood, at around 3.15pm on Saturday.

Her details were immediately distributed to police forces across the UK, with officers in London and Manchester, where Maxine is known to have contacts, being put on full alert for any sightings.

Officers are also still searching for 37-year-old drifter, Alan Keegan, a former close friend of the teenager's mother, Bridget Bindi, who is believed to have spent the night with Maxine at a Blackpool guesthouse during an earlier disappearance in October.

The Fleetwood High School pupil turned herself in at a police station in North Wales 33 days later, just two days after Mrs Bindi made an emotional plea for her safe return on BBC's Crimewatch programme in November.

Blackpool's Detective Inspector Martin Clague believes the teenager may, once again, be in the company of Keegan.

Det Insp Clague said: "Maxine is a vulnerable young lady and both ourselves and her family are extremely concerned that she should be found, safe and well, as soon as possible.

"There have been reports of a number of sightings, all of which have yet to be confirmed.

"But there is also a distinct possibilty that she may be in the company of Alan Keegan. I'd like to make it clear that we still want to speak with this man in relation to Maxine's previous disappearence.

"At this time I would urge anybody who sees either Maxine or Keegan to get in touch with police immediately."

Detective Clague added: "Maxine came forward in November after her mum appeared, appealing for information, on national television.

"Now, once again, Mrs Bindi and the rest of Maxine's family are faced with not knowing where she is or whether she's safe.

"We would urge Maxine to get in touch with either ourselves or home immediately even if it's just to confirm that she is indeed okay."

Maxine is of Afro-Carribbean descent, with brown eyes and shoulder length black hair. She was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, body warmer, trousers and furry boots when last seen.

Keegan is described as 5ft 10ins, of chubby appearance and has black collar-length hair which is receding. He has blue eyes.

Anyone with information should contact Blackpool police on 01253 604374 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
