Accrington Stanley sponsor Oswaldtwistle Mills has unveiled a new signing -- its very own Ronaldo.

Ronaldo Polvani, 52, has joined the team at the Hyndburn attraction, where he helps to manage the car parks.

Bosses at Oswaldtwistle Mills took on Italian-born Ronaldo, who lives in Altham near the Accrington Stanley ground, as a temporary worker for Christmas.

But his hard work has captured the eye of the 'team's' management, and now he will be kept on in the New Year.

Now Ronaldo has been called up to help advertise a new service from Oswaldtwistle Mills, where Stanley fans can have their team shirts personalised.

Boyd Hargreaves, director of Oswaldtwistle Mills, said: "With all the reports about flagging attendance at football in East Lancashire and at Accrington Stanley we are trying to help the club.

"The revenue that they generate at Oswaldtwistle Mills is certainly improving and making good money for the club.

"We are also trying to promote the fact that people can get their shirts and merchandise from Oswaldtwistle Mills."

Now Oswaldtwistle's own Ronaldo has a shirt bearing the name and number of his namesake, Manchester United and Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Oswaldtwistle Mills is now into its second year of its sponsorship deal with Accrington Stanley, after taking over from Hyndburn Council.

Rob Heys, chief executive at Accrington Stanley, said: "Oswaldtwistle Mills is a valuable outlet for our merchandise, it gets our products in front of thousands of visitors every year, many of whom are from outside the area and wouldn't normally see the things we sell."
