WHEN I read the Rev Kevin Logan's column in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph I thought you had started a science fiction column.

I was therefore somewhat disappointed when I realised that it was only another creationist advancing the concept that man is descended from monkeys or apes.

As far as I can determine, no evolutionist has ever put such an idea forward.

Evolution simply states that any individual animal, plant or aquatic creature that is fortunate enough to develop an appendage or other bodily organ that gives it an advantage then in all probability will become the dominant strain and share its advantage with future generations.

There are also people, I am told, who still believe the earth is flat and that the moon is made of green cheese.

Maybe we could be treated to a similar article from one of them.
