Chris Hart and Ben Rusius gave Blackburn Harriers a one-two finish in the junior men's race in the third round of the Mid Lancs Cross Country League at Worden Park, Leyland.

The Harriers lacked a third counter to make a team, but the under 15 girls made full amends.

Rachel Searson came home second and with four in the first 15 they out-scored Rossendale Harriers to be first team by ten points.

Katie Ireland was fourth for Dale, but their highlight was in the under 13 boys' race when another convincing performance by third placed Dominic Walton helped them to a decisive team victory.

Clayton Harriers' women dominated the adult team standings as their seniors, over 35s and over 45s all won.

Anna Kelly headed the F35s and Maureen Laney the F45s as Tracy Michell, Kath Brady, Irene Roche and Wendy Dodds made contributions. Peter Butterworth took the M50 class as Graham Murray won the M60s from club mate Dave Scott to lead home the winning squad.

Bowland Fell Runners, in their first year of competition, were the senior Division 4 leaders, as Blackburn Harriers won Division 3.

Blackburn's Matt Nuttall in ninth was the leading local from Pendle's Chris Fishlock and Sean Bolland of Bowland in 11th and 12th.

l Hyndburn Athletic Club and Chorley Harriers each gained their best result in the non-league under 11s' race where Hydburn's Joe Oldfield was fourth boy and Ella Crabtree finished second girl for Chorley.

Near rivals Pendle and Park High excelled in the under 17 women's race where Anna Anderson of Pendle was second and Red Rose Champion Rebecca Robinson took fourth.

In the equivalent race for the men, Blackburn's Adam Hurley was the first local in third.
