There will be some old scores to settle when Bamber Bridge come to Victory Park on Boxing Day morning for a key UniBond First Division match.

Former Chorley players Michael Bingham, Jamie Squires, Alex Porter and Danny Kent are all likely to be facing their old club, while free-scoring forward Peter Wright will be hoping to put one over his former team-mates in the match which kicks off at 11.30am.

There has been intense rivalry between the clubs, particularly as Brig have made remarkable progress since merging with Walton-le-Dale and climbing out of the Preston and District League, through the North West Counties League and into the UniBond League top flight - all in the last 15 years.

After Bamber Bridge's relegation from the UniBond Premier Division last season the two clubs find themselves as First Division derby opponents once again, with a real Christmas cracker in prospect as Chorley's recent improvement in form sees them currently lie one place above their local rivals in the division with just one point separating the two sides.

Chorley will be keen to get playing again after the disappointment of Saturday's postponement of the Woodley Sports match because of frost.

The Victory Park pitch was passed fit by a local referee at 11am but an hour before the scheduled kick-off the match official ruled that it wasunplayable.
