A 23-year-old man who did the right thing and walked away from a stormy row with his partner returned later when he was drunk and smashed a window, a court was told.
Andrew Richard Haworth, of Selkirk Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging a door panel belonging to Kelly Norris. He was fined £50 with £50 costs.
Peter Wild, prosecuting, said the couple had come home from the cinema when the row started. When Haworth returned he had been drinking and after collecting his trainers slammed the front door breaking the glass panel.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said the relationship had been stormy. The row had been over Miss Norris's view that her partner had looked "a little too long and a little too closely at another young lady".
He said: "Rather than remain and exacerbate the situation he left and the problem only arose when he returned drunk."
