BLACKBURN Hawks grabbed victory in their last game of the year, beating Solway Sharks in the Crossover Cup.
Hawks emerged triumphant after falling behind to the Scottish National Ice Hockey League team - stealing the points in a close 4-3 victory at the Arena.
Despite the win, assistant manager Graham Lomax admitted that his team were not at their best.
"We can play better, but a win is a win. It was pleasing to triumph on a
night when we were not at our best.
"We went behind, did well to get the scores level and then controlled the game.
"I was a little disappointed with Solway. They are a good side, but they were poor on the night.
"It wasn't a physical, battling game like itnormally is against the Sharks - in fact, it was quite leisurely!"
Hawks took the lead in the first period through Craig Sharman and were looking in firm control. However, Solway nicked two goals, Ross Edgar and Tim McKay inflicting the damage to stun the home fans.
The home side came to life in the final period and bagged three quick
goals courtesy of Bobby Haig, Wesley Barnett and Michael Brunton. McKay
netted his second, but was little more than a late consolation.
Hawks now have two weeks off before returning to action for another Northern Crossover Cup against Paisley Pirates on January 7th.
"We have given the lads a deserved break over Christmas," added Lomax.
