A 65-year-old Alzheimer's sufferer who went missing from the accident and emergency ward at Blackburn Royal Infirmary was today found safe and well.
George Davenport, who lives in Brockhall, near Whalley, had suffered strokes recently and as a result there was concern for his welfare.
He was last seen leaving A&E on foot at around 8pm yesterday but he was found wandering the streets of Lower Darwen around 6.30am today.
Lancashire Police had been worried for Mr Davenport as he suffers from the advanced stages of Alzheimher's disease and has recently suffered a series of strokes.
Insp Simon Atkinson said: "Mr Davenport turned up in the Lower Darwen area this morning. At this stage he is understood to be safe and well."
