A MAN died and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision between two cars in Chorley.
The crash happened on the A674 Blackburn Road, close to junction eight of the M61, just before 2pm yesterday.
It is believed the North West Air Ambulance took an 18-year-old man, who was in the same car as the dead man, to Preston Royal Hospital with suspected leg and arm fractures and spinal injuries. A third man in the other car suffered less serious injuries, police said.
A black Volkswagen Golf and a blue Renault Vel Satis were involved in the smash but police have not released any further details about who was driving which car or what caused the crash.
The accident caused chaos for cars trying to get on and off the M61 at junction 8 and around the Hartwood Hill roundabout.
The A674 was closed for over four hours as police investigated and wreckage was cleared.
