The annual Chorley Cake Fair saw thousands of thrill seekers visit the town to enjoy the four days of rides and attractions.

Unseasonal warm and sunny weather brought out the crowds in droves to enjoy the fair, which has been blighted by heavy rain in previous years.

Market Street and Fazakerley Street were lined with a haunted house, a big wheel and rides for younger children.

While more daring thrill seekers made their way to the car park of QS Fashions where along with the dodgems and waltzer, more white knuckle rides were located.

Chorley police said they were satisfied with the way the fair had been organised despite trouble breaking out on Thursday evening.

Five arrests were made after sporadic violence broke out around the Market Street area after hundreds of teenagers congregated in the centre.

Officers asked organisers to close the fair early at 9.30pm.

One person has been bailed on assault charges and two other youths were given fixed penalties for disorder.

Inspector Ian Roberts of Chorley police, said: "There were some isolated incidents on the Thursday evening but the remainder of the weekend passed off without any major problems and I'm happy with the way the fair was organised."
