WORKERS in Blackburn were encouraged to leave the car at home and use public transport to mark European Mobility Week.
Blackburn with Darwen Council, with Blackburn Transport, Lancashire United and Northern Rail, supported international car-free day by organising two travel information buses to deliver advice to Blackburn's big business parks.
In a recent survey of employees on Whitebirk, Greenbank, Furthergate and Shadsworth business parks, 87 per cent of respondents said they travel to work by car with only 12 per cent travelling by public transport, walking or cycling.
Emma Lancaster of Promethean, based on Whitebirk business park, and workers at Training 2000, based on Furthergate park, were the winners of the prize draw. They received £100 Argos vouchers.
