ANIMAL rights campaigners are urging people to boycott a circus in Accrington.
The Captive Animals' Protection Society says Zippo's Circus, which is in Eagle Street until Sunday, is one of just seven in Britain that still uses horses, dogs and birds.
Craig Redmond, campaigns officer for CAPS said: "By their very nature circuses cannot provide all the space and necessary requirements to guarantee the well-being of animals.
"CAPS believes that animals can suffer in a circus environment and we ask the public to boycott animal circuses."
Zippo's spokesman Chris Barltrop said: "Most people would agree that horses, dogs and budgies are entirely innocuous animals to have in a circus.
"We are very open and up front about the way the animals are cared for."
