YOUL MAWENE returned from the sidelines to grab a late equaliser as Preston's winless run at home continued.

Last season's player of the year, who hasn't started for North End since August, headed home Paul McKenna's 91st minute corner-kick, which had been looped into the area by Lewis Neal.

It left QPR boss Ian Holloway fuming - he believed Mawene should have been sent off for a tackle on Paul Furlong in the first half.

And he accused North End's supporters of not getting behind their team after a section of the crowd turned on striker Danny Dichio - yet to score in a North End shirt.

Deepdale isn't so much a fortress as a holiday camp for rival teams this season, and QPR put themselves on course for a great day out in the 63rd minute when Dan Shittu pounced on Kevin Gallen's corner to beat Carlo Nash.

Preston boss Billy Davies said: "We lost a very sloppy goal. We never played that well in the first half.

"In the second half we were more like ourselves and created more chances. That was a strong physical side we played against."
