Jack Straw's brief comments in his article (LET, September 29), hardly did justice to the cowardly act perpetrated by hired heavies against a solitary elderly pensioner during Jack Straw's speech at the Labour Party Conference.
What was surprising, given that the subject matter was the war in Iraq, was that there was only one voice of dissent against the worst foreign policy decision ever taken by any Labour Government.
If the hierarchy of New Labour wants to use a bit of muscle against those who publicly show their disgust at their policies, the televised Prime Minister's Question Time would be the ideal opportunity for them to have a few Members of Parliament ejected for ranting and raving, as well as providing tax payers with excellent entertainment.
