SINCE the release of his debut album, Music by Cavelight, Blockhead has attracted a broad base of fans to his unique brand of emotional, instrumental hip hop.
Downtown Science follows the same path of offbeat sounds, strange samples and gentle rhythms.
Opening track Expiration Date is both soulful and moody, combining light, playful guitar notes with darker bass lines and Blockhead's gruff vocals.
Roll Out The Red Carpet starts with a 1940s sample and jumps to a jazzy Herbaliser-esque number with Bond-type string samples and gentle percussion.
Other highlights include Cherry Picker, a strange collection of quiet sounds that builds up to an impressive blend of bells, percussion, warped female vocals and trumpet sounds.
Released October 17, 2005.
