REGARDING the story headlined "Some of our wards are dirty" (LET September 30), hospital trust chief executive Jo Cubbon is in a most unenviable position.
Not only is she trying to improve cleanliness to try to stop the spread of MRSA, she is also preparing for winter which will bring flu problems.
Then we have bird flu spreading through Europe, all this whilst trying to run hospitals at a break-even point and trying to pull back the overspend of £5million that she inherited when she took over.
This job is hard enough without having to pay back this money. Why will PCT not allow the sale of the Royal Infirmary which is expected to raise about £5million to be used to write off this debt?
This would allow her to get on with the job and not have to worry about saving money.
Councillor ROY DAVIES.
