RESIDENTS in Brierfield have been urged to help clean up their town by naming 'grotspots'.

The call has gone out to help Brierfield's Neighbourhood Management Team improve the quality of life for people in the town.

People can tell members of the neighbourhood management team face-to-face which areas need improving at a special consultation event at Brierfield Community Centre, between noon and 1.30pm, on Friday, October 21.

Sara Mumby, from the team, said: "We want the community to let us know what areas they feel need improving.

"The aim is to improve three areas over the next 12 months, and then do more after that."

Later the same day, at 1.30pm at the same venue, the Brierfield Neighbourhood Action Plan will be launched.

The 12-month action plan has been put together by Brierfield Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG), a collection of residents and representatives from local organisations, including Pendle Council.

The action plan proposes a number of activities around four themes -- children and young people, community cohesion, Brierfield's image and health issues

One of the activities is clearing up grotspots and creating 'green spaces' to improve areas of Brierfield.

Sara said: "The action plan is the result of a collaboration between residents and a wide range of local organisations."
