RAMPANT Vale of Lune ran in ten tries to rack up their biggest score for a decade and win for the third time this season in the Powergen North Two West.

The locals were magnificent as their well drilled pack provided the perfect foundation for the win with the forwards claiming seven of the tries.

Skipper Gavin McHugh and Daniel Baines collected a brace each and were joined on the scoresheet by Jim Welsh, Lee Farnworth and Phil Watson.

Three-quarters Andy Garnett, Kevin Gardner and Ian Bird were the others to cross the whitewash with Andy Miller booting four conversions and Garnett one.

Vale set off well with Baines and Gardner going over inside the opening 12 minutes.

Widnes then kicked two penalties but Vale were soon back in their stride with Garnett going over.

McHugh smashed over after the break before Baines scored the try of the match to put the locals on Easy Street.

McHugh went in again and Widnes were washed out with Bird storming over, Farnworth crossing and Watson completing the scoring.

The confidence for Vale is sky high now and on Saturday they travel to Bowden for the first ever senior meeting between the sides.
