MOORLANDS suffered LFA Amateur Shield heartache after crashing to an embarrassing 18-0 loss at Euxton Villa on Saturday.

The locals were left with red faces after their disastrous trip to Chorley and now they can concentrate on the league.

But while Moorlands suffered, Marsh United made hay as they moved into round three thanks to an excellent 4-1 win over Milton.

Jimmy Love put the locals in front before Manchester outfit Milton enjoyed a spell of pressure. But that pressure came to nothing and Kevin Coulton made it 2-0 before the break.

Lee Sparks made the game safe at 3-0 shortly after the re-start with a classy finish before Milton got some reward for their earlier pressure in some style.

Keeper Luke Phillips was left stunned as his clearance was volleyed back over his head from some 35-yards by Graham Pearson to make it 3-1.

But Love grabbed his second and Marsh's fourth to wrap things up.

Slyne-with-Hest beat Crookland Casuals 3-2 and Trimpell also made it through thanks to a 4-1 win over fancied Fleetwood Hesketh but there was disappointment for Morecambe Royals at Hindley and Storeys at Millom as both sides went out.

In the Premier Division Torrisholme failed to close the gap at the top as they went down 3-1 at Cartmel and District, while Layton Young's hat-trick helped CCM Dynamos to a 6-1 win over City Contract Services.

James Watson and Will Rowell scored the goals for Westgate Wanderers as they beat bottom club Ingleton 2-1 and Richard Chambers scored twice for Boys Club but their game at Kirkby Lonsdale finished 2-2 after Chris Vincent bagged a brace for the home side.

Cartmel Reserves moved to within two points of the First Division summit after beating Storeys Reserves 4-2 thanks largely to a brace from Lee Tracey, while Caton United made it four wins on the spin as they thrashed Vine 6-0.

Steve Oliver scored a hat-trick, with Daren Greene also on the scoresheet but Vine contributed to their own downfall as Andy Crookes and Richard Symonds both put through their own net as Caton made it 19 goals without reply in their four-match run.

Steven Cottam and Byron Noxon both scored hat-tricks for Galgate as they battered Bentham 6-1, while Millhead went one better as they put seven past hapless Ingleton Reserves.

Bolton-le-Sands stay on top of Division Two after a 4-0 win at Westgate Rangers. Kevin Burns scored twice with the scoring completed thanks to two own goals, while Carnforth Rangers kept up the pressure with a 4-1 win at Morecambe Hoops.

Allithwaite Rangers thumped Arnside Reserves 7-1, while Freehold beat Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers 4-0 and a Jonathan Pink hat-trick helped Halton Rangers to a 5-0 win over Caton United Reserves.

And goals from Paul Woodhouse, John Durnham and John Cassidy eased Trimpell to a 3-1 win over Torrisholme Reserves.

Poulton United increased their lead at the top of Division Three thanks to a 5-2 win over Galgate Reserves, Kevin Burns leading the way with a four-goal salvo, while Joe Daley blasted a hat-trick to see Central Pier home 5-4 against Millhead Reserves.

Bowerham sit proudly on top of Division Four with five wins from their five games and some 30 goals in those 540 minutes of football.

Their latest blast was a 9-1 win over Bentham Reserves with hat-tricks from Mark Murphy and Steve Griffiths while Liam Westwood, Alex Laird and Joe Bouskill got the others.

Tommy Tatham breached the Bowerham defence for Bentham's consolation.

Villa Royals stay second already eight points behind after beating Heysham 4-3.
