FRANK Sinclair reeckons Burnley have set the standards for the rest of the season following their thrilling victory at Wolves.

A first Molineux win in nearly 30 years sent Burnley into the two-week international break in a much healthier 15th place in the Championship table.

And Sinclair, who along with fellow defender John McGreal battled through the pain barrier against Wanderers, said he was proud to captain a team packed with character.

"We had a bad start, but now we know what we can do. We have set our own standards and we'll be demanding that from each other," said Sinclair.

"I'm proud to captain a side with this character. The gaffer has brought nearly every player into the team and they are all players with big hearts. It's taken us a while to settle down and find out what we're all about individually, but we are getting there now."

Sinclair revealed that Burnley's vastly experienced central defensive pairing were only 60 per cent fit for Friday's stunning Molineux victory.

And he explained: "Basically, we both had to play. We had a problem not being able to use Keith Lowe, who has done really well, so there wasn't much else the gaffer could do.

"Both of us were probably 60 per cent fit at best and I take my hat off to John though because he looked like he was in a bit more pain than I was.

"But we don't mind doing that because we knew we had a two-week break afterwards, whatever damage we did and we'll use that rest now to hopefully get fully fit for the next game against Leeds."

Meanwhile boss Steve Cotterill reflected on the second successive victory, which finally ended the Clarets wretched run of luck to kick-start their campaign.

He said: "We have worked long and hard for these back-to-backresults and I'm really delighted for the boys.

"We did okay away from home early last season and this year it hasn't quite gone right for us, but there's no better place to come and get a result.

"It's important now that we look after ourselves in the next week and start preparing for Leeds in two weeks time."

Meanwhile, Graham Branch has been charged by the FA with using 'abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting behaviour' towards Derby County fans during the Turf Moor clash on August 27.

The alleged incident follows an accidental clash with Marc Edworthy, which resulted in the Rams defender being knocked out by a flying boot.
