POLICE were interviewing itinerant travellers after thousands of pounds-worth of damage was caused to vehicles and other property, in a council yard in Burnley.
Workers were shocked by the scene that greeted them when they arrived at the contract services department depot in Princess Way early today. The windscreens of 38 lorries and vans had been smashed and some of the vehicles flooded by hosepipes.
A police spokesman said: "It looks like someone has just gone completely beserk but a closer examination indicates that someone has gone around systematically damaging the vehicles."
