SCHOOLS in Blackburn and Darwen were the latest targets of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers.
Today, nine teachers walked out at three high schools, affecting 570 pupils of Notre Dame, Pleckgate, and Darwen Vale.
The following day, nine teachers at Blackburn schools were set to take part in stoppages.
**Flooding was responsible for a spate of accidents in the county. A coach carrying 20 elderly people was stranded in floodwater at Stubbins Bridge, Ramsbottom, and had to be towed to safety by firemen and flood water was pumped away by firemen from houses in Darwen and Baxenden.
