CAMPAIGNERS fighting for a new hospital in the Ribble Valley will know in the next couple of months if a massive cash bid has been successful.

If the answer is yes, a brand new, state of the art cottage hospital could be built in Longridge.

A package involving a bid for more than £2m and a 15-bed health unit has been put before the North West Regional Health Authority.

The project is being spearheaded by Mr David Bonson, director of marketing for Communicare NHS Trust.

His plan includes housing the 15 beds alongside a unit containing clinic facilities already operating at Ribchester Hospital and also to bring in new facilities.

A site for the proposed new hospital has not yet been earmarked.
