A SCIENCE laboratory was out of action today after being smoke-logged by an arson attack on Mount Carmel RC High School in Accrington.
Firefighters turned out at 10pm last night after rubbish was piled against an outside door and set alight.
The crew prevented the blaze from spreading, but part of a science wing was smoke-logged.
The vandalism was the third incident at the Wordsworth Road school this week.
On Tuesday night, stones were thrown at several cars belonging to governors, teachers and parents at the school for the governors' annual meeting.
Yesterday afternoon, a pupil's bike was stolen.
Headteacher Mr Peter Boylan estimated the bill for last night's fire at about £250. He said: "One external door will need to be replaced."
