A MULTI-MILLION pound scheme to transform Accrington's market area was being discussed at a public inquiry today.
The inquiry, into compulsory purchase orders issued in connection with the scheme was held at the Hyndburn Council offices in Eagle Street.
The plan involves creating a 60,000 square feet mall between Peel Street and Broadway while a new covered market is proposed on the site of the present bus station.
Objections have been received from shop owners in the Peel Street and Broadway areas who are concerned about access to their premises when new service areas are created.
The length of the inquiry will depend on the number of objections but council officers were confident that some objections would be withdrawn.
Hyndburn Transport had previously withdrawn its objection following talks with the council.
