NOW that Blackburn's shopping precinct is closed off at night, it is very difficult to walk across the town centre.
The two possible routes from King William Street to the Boulevard are circuitous and hazardous.
As the council is responsible for closing the streets which used to give ready access for vehicles and pedestrians, I suggest that every evening each councillor and senior officer should walk alone, without police escort, from the Town Hall and the Railway Station via Northgate and Church Street, returning via Ainsworth Street.
This beneficial and salutary exercise should continue until a safe and direct way is provided across the obstruction.
