TWO England soccer fans have returned to East Lancashire after being deported from Norway before tonight's friendly international.

They have been named by the police as Damian Stuttard, 23, of Burnley, and Glen Ford, 26, of Rossendale.

A massive security operation is underway in Oslo to prevent violence at the game.

A police spokesman said they could not speak about individuals but that authorities in Norway were turning back some England fans.

No reason was given for their deportation but Mr Stuttard and Mr Ford refused to speak to reporters when they returned via Newcastle airport.

A woman who answered the phone at Ford Quarry, Burnley, today said Glen "was naturally upset at being turned away when he had a ticket for the match" but that he didn't want to talk about it.

Oslo was bracing itself today for an invasion of hundreds of England soccer fans, many of them without tickets.

The city was said to be tense as the first of 100 of 700 supporters arrived in town although only one incident of violence was reported to the police.

Two Britons were arrested for alleged assault in the town centre taking the number being held in the run up to the match to 16.

Others have been held on shoplifting and drunkenness allegations.

Any fan arriving at the ground without a ticket will be turned away and escorted out of the country if necessary, police have said.

Hundreds of officers will be on the streets and around the stadium to avoid any trouble.

Any further disorder will cast doubt over England's ability to stage next summer's European Championships peacefully.
