IN what I suspect will be the first of many observations by her, Trisha Buzzard, the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservatives at Rossendale and Darwen (Letters, October 5) dismisses some of Jack Straw's recent suggestions for improving security in our streets and offers her own simplistic solutions.
Given that her party has been in power for 16 years, perhaps she will explain why these apparently obvious solutions are needed and why they have not been tried already.
