MATTHEW Brown's share price rocketed as speculation surrounding the Scottish and Newcastle takeover bid reached fever pitch.
After weeks of stock market dithering, with limited movements in the shares of both companies, the Matthew Brown price spurted ahead by 55p to a new high of 485p.
Early morning commuters were unable to pick up a national newspaper in East Lancs after the delivery train from Manchester broke down.
