WINIFRED Ferrier, the sister of the great singer Kathleen Ferrier, has died aged 92.
Members of the Blackburn-based Kathleen Ferrier Society will travel to London on Friday to attend Miss Ferrier's funeral at Golders Green.
Only 18 months ago, Miss Ferrier handed over to the society a priceless collection of items belonging to her celebrated sister, who was brought up in Blackburn.
She had cared for them since Kathleen's death from cancer at the age of 41.
Society chairman Sylvia Alexander said: "She was a wonderful person, very active for her age.
"She said the formation of the society had given her a new lease of life."
Miss Ferrier's last visited Blackburn in 1993 for the launch of the society on the 40th anniversary of her sister's death.
