IT's almost getting monotonous as even the "in-form" opponents are being brushed aside with comparative ease as Hawks go marching on.

But there are wins and there are WINS and last night's display - a 12th successive victory - was as stylish a performance as any during this incredible record-breaking sequence.

No wonder another 2,000 plus crowd was on its feet at the end, Hawks looked every inch a table-topping outfit.

Consider first that the Bees of Bracknell came to the Arena on a high themselves after an impressive run of results.

And when they chalked up a single-goal advantage by the close of the first period even the most passionate Hawks fan must have been just a teeny bit concerned.

There was no need.

That period, plus an unfortunate injury to Lee Cowmeadow who needed hospital treatment for concussion, proved the only blip.

Hawks ran in four in period two before going goal crazy in the final period with some stunning goals resulting from fluent attacking movements.

Skipper John Haig and the deadly duo of Oleg Sinkov and Steve Chartrand revelled in the freedom with the Bees on the wrong end of a real sting.

Incredibly, Haig, Sinkov and Chartrand have now totalled close on 450 points this season.

Scoresheet: Malcolm Bell 0 + 2, Jim Pennycook 0 + 1, Steve Chartrand 3 + 2, John Haig 2 + 1, Ryan Kummu 1 + 1, Oleg Sinkov 3 + 1, Jon Cotton 2 + 0.

On Saturday at Paisley Hawks sneaked home in a cut-and-thrust affair...the game a personal triumph for Chartrand.

The quicksilver Canadian scored five and that on a rink rated one of the toughest venues in the British League First Division.

Hawks took the first two periods only for Pirates to roar back, but Ryan Kummu's men are a resilient bunch and they proved that defence is every bit as important as attack with a strong rearguard display.

Scoresheet: Steve Chartrand 5 + 1, John Haig 0 + 4, Oleg Sinkov 1 + 2, Jon Cotton 1 + 1, Malcolm Bell 0 + 2, Jim Pennycook 0 + 1.

Hawks are back in Arena action on Wednesday night with struggling Billingham Bombers providing the midweek opposition.

A meet the players even is also planned for Thursday night, more details available on 263063.

BIHA officials meet tomorrow to discuss the future of the sport with members of the new Superleague.

On the agenda will be a draft discussion document drawn up when the Superleague founder clubs met in London on Friday.

This report outlines an ongoing consultation process between the two bodies.

All existing professional clubs will be invited to apply for Superleague membership, subject to agreed criteria, as the League aims to become operational by September 1996.
