DURING the summer, you published my letter encouraging everyone to get involved in the debate the Home Secretary had begun on whether we should have a National Identity Card.
We have sent out more than 55,000 copies of the booklet. More than 1,000 people took the trouble to send me their views - 54 per cent against the introduction of any card. Of those in favour, the majority wanted a compulsory card.
