THE body of a taxi driver who died after a road accident has been flown to Pakistan.
Mohammed Salim, 37, of Palmer Road, Blackburn, died this week nearly a fortnight after the accident at Knuzden, when Mr Salim's black cab collided with a 20-tonne M65 construction vehicle.
An inquest into his death was opened by coroner Andre Rebello at Blackburn's magistrates court.
Before adjourning, Mr Rebello said: "I am amazed at the speed these matters were resolved before being able to give clearance for Mr Salim's body to be transported abroad.
"The police, pathologists and legal teams for the drivers and others worked very quickly to allow this to happen."
Mr Rebello praised the relevant authorities, as did Mr Salim's father, Soltan Khan.
However, he added that the speed of the release was very unusual and that the process normally took several weeks while evidence was considered.
The body and the family of Mr Salim flew to Pakistan this weekend.
