LARS Bohinen did not see red when he was substituted at half-time during Rovers' mauling at Coventry - literally!

The Norwegian international is almost colour blind when it comes to distinguishing red from green.

The icy conditions at Highfield Road, where Rovers were thrashed 5-0, meant a red ball was needed.

But without a full covering of snow, Bohinen found it difficult to pick out the ball against the background of frosty grass.

He explained: "I am not colour blind but I have really bad colour vision. "It's something to laugh off really, but it's a big problem for me when I play these kind of games.

"I had a similar problem when I played in Switzerland and a red ball was used for three or four games in the winter.

"I did not know we were going to play with a red ball until the last minute against Coventry.

"It clearly showed - I struggled. I would have played a lot better otherwise but I did not want to use it as an excuse.

"I can see the ball clearly up to 10 yards away but near my feet it gets kind of blurred."

Bohinen stressed that the condition was made clear to doctors during his medical examinations on moving from Nottingham Forest to Rovers.
