A NEW ROUND of savage cuts in spending on house building and repairs shook town halls in East Lancashire today.
They came in the wake of fears of rate rises in double figures - far higher than the rate of inflation - next year because of cuts in subsidies for council spending.
The figures showed that Blackburn was being cut back from just over £8 million last year to £7.5 million in the coming 12 months.
