REGARDING your report on the expected rise in council tax (LET, December 14). Blackburn Council are coming out with the same story year after year - taxpayers are asked to pay more for less.
If we are, as expected, going to receive reduced services again, can someone at the council explain why, if less services are provided, jobs at the town hall are not axed.
Why should we have to carry staff that are not needed instead of having the usual situation of creating new positions somewhere else in the town hall.
There is enough driftwood at the town hall. It's time for trimming.
This council is supposed to represent our interests, not looking after its staff.
The tax rises being talked about are a disgrace. And the low wages paid round here will not be enough for many people to cover these charges.
T J CONNOR (Mr), Pendle Drive, Blackburn.
