HUNDREDS of Mutant Turtle toys were seized from shops throughout Lancashire after fears that they could be covered in poisonous paint.
Lancashire's chief trading standards officer, Jim Potts, said tests on fake toys which had flooded Britain showed that they contained up to eight times the permitted level of lead in the paint.
The warning was issued as thousands of shoppers cashed in on the Christmas Mutant Turtle craze.
