REGARDING the retirement of long-serving Hyndburn probation officer Miss Dorothy McGregor (LET, December 19).
I always found her a pleasant person with a nice smile - however much you may have been arguing the toss or feeling the world was wrong.
Dorothy was good at calming troubled waters even if she never seemed to be up to draining the sea.
A smile goes a long way and, as a person, she gained respect. I wish her a happy retirement.
